History and Governance
Ezekiel Rain started when the Lord brought together two families in response to a heart’s cry to see the justice come forth among trafficking survivors. Although the journey was intensely personal for all individuals involved, a man who carried a a passion for seeing the orphaned and exploited restored within families spoke in a church service and stirred these two families into action.
As the families met and prayed, a dream was birthed that saw children delivered from slavery, fully restored within families and leading the Body of Christ, changing nations and living as sons and daughters of the King. So after a year of preparing, two scouting trips, lots of counsel and establishing a 501c3 in the US, Ezekiel Rain landed in Thailand in February 2010 with the vision to lift Jesus high and serve the precious people of the land. We were recognized as a Thai Foundation in August 2012 and opened our first restoration home in October 2012 and received our Thai certification as an anti-trafficking organization in October 2014.
We are governed by a Board of Directors (6 members located throughout the USA and Thailand) and we have a field team in Thailand composed of Thai nationals, foreign volunteers and the ER founders. Additionally, we have a Thai Board of Directors (5 members) that oversee our foundation in Thailand.
Meaning of Name
Our name is taken from Ezekiel 34:25-28 in the Bible and paints a picture of our prayer for all who have been exploited and abused.
“I will make with them a covenant of peace and banish wild beasts from the land, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing. And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke, and deliver them from the hand of those who enslaved them. They shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the land devour them. They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.
Our name in Thai is ครอบครัวพร้อมรักษ์. It means to prepare or equip families to be places of healing/restoration/love.
