The day I first met with a young gal that I was assigned to counsel, God spoke to my heart, “This is the work I have prepared for you!” I want to help others that I don’t yet understand and so I am motivated to keep learning and growing. I love helping people see the truth of how God created them; with great value! I am so grateful to be doing work that I love!”
These are just a few glimpses of how real people on our team are connecting with God and then others in real ways. First UP, then OUT. The story is unfolding and prayer is the means God has chosen to write it.
The impact of trafficking and exploitation to some degree affects everyone and therefore, everyone must stand against the evils and help others heal. We believe that anti-trafficking work is not just an NGO-thing. Ezekiel Rain is empowering nationals to create healing communities where churches, families, businesses, schools and medical providers identify and connect with those in need. Daily, we are helping people understand trauma and its affects while sharing tools and resources that will promote safety, healing and wholeness.
I have received healing. I have received freedom. I have received new hope!
I am a young girl who used to be naïve and innocent. I trusted everyone in my family and never thought they would do something to harm me. I never imagined that I would face a terrible incident that would bring so much pain.
A lot of people can't imagine it, but Joel Karum (CEO of Ezekiel Rain) is running 124 km (about 77 miles) through the mountains of northern Thailand starting Friday, October 18 at 11:00 pm and finishing on Sunday, October 20, 2019 to help fight human trafficking in Thailand!
Our Treasured One curriculum helps a survivor find his or her voice, a platform to process the past and tools to walk in freedom in the future.
We are so thankful for this beautiful campus in town, close to a university, and yet surrounded by trees in a peaceful setting. Now all of our offices, training rooms, prayer room, counseling center, emergency housing, staff childcare and guest housing are in one location.
Consider joining us as we fight trafficking and heal trauma by mobilizing communities and strengthening families. We are looking for people, based in both the U.S. and Thailand, who want to see wholeness and freedom overcome brokenness.
I was 14 years old when I came to live at Ezekiel Rain. I had been abused and exploited since I was 9 years old, living in multiple temples, children’s homes and massage parlors.
When I arrived, I had many health, emotional, spiritual, sexual and relational struggles. I was afraid to receive or give love; I couldn’t trust anyone, even the people who were helping me.
We have seen over time the gaps in the way most restoration approaches seek to take a survivor out of society to keep them safe and get them “well” and then put them back “in” to society. The reintegration process often fails, and although there is much work done with the survivor, very little attention is given to strengthening the communities and families who surround the survivors.
Sometimes simple habits and choices make a big difference. The families in our Resilient Families project have shared that the following things have made the biggest difference in their family’s growth and mutual satisfaction.
The Prayer Room at Ezekiel Rain is designated for connecting with God through prayer and worship. Located on the 2nd floor of our Chiang Rai office and surrounded by a lush canopy of trees, this “upper room” is where our team is equipped through daily abiding in God’s presence.
When we are faced with issues that seem too big to tackle and we feel paralyzed from engaging, it is important to know that our thoughts, prayers, choices and actions really do make a difference.
We cannot remain silent or complacent in a world full of vulnerable, hurting and traumatized brothers and sisters.
Whether you’re working in a role that fights exploitation, trying to help someone who has been abused, or researching to better understand exploitation and trafficking, you can better equip yourself by learning not only the facts but also some of the stories of exploitation.
We believe that both brokenness and wholeness stem from a family’s health. In our Resilient Families project, we are working to see redemption and restoration come to families in Thailand.
